S. Kidman & Co employs staff in a diverse range of positions across its 17 cattle properties located in Queensland, South Australia, Western Australian and the Northern Territory. Opportunities for employment may arise throughout the season which is generally from February/March to November/December each year. Positions that may become available include:

Station Hand (Level depends on experience) - All Properties
Opportunities for Station Hand/Stock Person positions may become available throughout the course of the season across Kidman's portfolio of properties throughout QLD, NT, SA and WA.

Primary duties include:
  • Assisting with effective and timely herd management, including: mustering, branding, weaning, culling, sales, herd health programs and segregation of livestock classes;
  • Observing and reporting land and environmental issues on the property;
  • Observing safe work procedures;
  • Undertaking vehicle maintenance;
  • Assisting with maintaining and developing facilities and improvements upon the station;
  • Assisting with record keeping;
  • Maintaining good verbal communication.
Applicants with skills in cattle handling, horse and motor bike riding will be strongly regarded. Enthusiasm, the ability and willingness to learn and enjoyment for an outdoor lifestyle are essential.

2012: Employment Opportunities - All Properties
S. Kidman & Co is one of Australia's largest beef producers with a herd of 200,000 cattle. The company has pastoral leases covering 110,000 square kilometres in three states - Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia, and the Northern Territory. Our property portfolio includes 16 stations and 1 feedlot/farming enterprise.

S. Kidman & Co is now accepting expressions of interest from prospective employees for the 2012 season.

Station Cook/Domestic - Woomanooka
Woomanooka, an outstation of Durham Downs Station, located 240 km West of Thargomindah in South West Queensland, is seeking a full-time Station Cook/Domestic for immediate commencement.

The successful applicant will need to be capable of carrying out the following duties:
  • Planning menus;
  • Ordering supplies;
  • Preparing meals for up to 5 people; and
  • Maintaining the kitchen, dining room and food storage areas in a clean, tidy and hygienic state.
Basic cooking skills and excellent standards of cleanliness are essential. When not carrying out cooking requirements, other duties will include general domestic/gardening activities around the homestead complex. An appreciation for rural and remote living is recommended.
