S. Kidman & Co employs staff in a diverse range of positions across its 14 cattle properties and Feedlot operation. The Head office is based in Adelaide with our stations located in rural Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory. Our Feedlot is located at Sedan, South Australia.

Opportunities for employment on our properties may arise throughout the course of the season, which generally runs from mid February to December each year. Positions that may become available include:

Bore Runner (Immediate Commencement) - Ruby Plains
Ruby Plains Station is seeking an experienced Bore Runner to commence immediately. The station is situated 60km South of Halls Creek in the East Kimberley of Western Australia.

Reporting to the Station Manager, the key requirements of the position includes:
  • The ability to perform under limited supervision;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Sound mechanical knowledge of motors, pumps and windmills;
  • Maintaining and servicing of equipment under direct control;
  • Proficient in maintaining adequate water levels for stock;
  • Ensuring stock have clean water at all times (e.g. clean troughs etc);
  • Maintaining fences around watering points;
  • Taking instruction from senior staff;
  • Observing and reporting on any abnormalities associated with the role (e.g. sick cattle, vehicle movements etc);
  • Willing to work unsocial hours when required;
  • Flexible to move into other work areas or perform tasks unrelated to bores if required.

Helicopter Pilot/Station Hand (Early 2019 Commencement) - Innamincka
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Helicopter Pilot/Station Hand to join the team at Innamincka Station, situated in the far North East of South Australia.

Reporting to the Station Manager, your main responsibilities will include aerial stock mustering, checking of stock and facilities and flying company staff between properties. You will at all times adhere to regulatory requirements and the company’s safety and operational standards.

When not engaged in aerial operations, the successful applicant will be required to work as a Station Hand and assist with general day to day station activities including working with livestock.

Minimum Requirements:
  • CASA Commercial Pilot Licence Helicopter - CPL (H)
  • Aircraft class rating for Single-engine Helicopter (SEH)
  • Low-level rating with an Aerial Mustering endorsement
  • 500 hours of aerial mustering experience
  • Current Class 1 medical certificate
  • Current Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
  • Valid and current Class C Motor Vehicle Drivers Licence or higher
  • Located in Australia with the legal right to work here.
Desirable Experience:
  • R44 endorsement
  • On-ground mustering and livestock handling skills
  • Heavy Vehicle licence
  • Experience riding motorbikes.

Machinery Operator (Grader) (Immediate Commencement) - Brunchilly
A position is available for an experienced Grader Driver at Brunchilly Station. Brunchilly is situated 100km North East of Tennant Creek, in the Northern Territory. The position is available for immediate commencement or by negotiation to start in 2019.

Duties include the maintenance of station roads, fencelines, airstrips and fire breaks, general property observations during grading and general maintenance of a CAT 140H Grader.

Applicants are required to have:
  • A current HR licence
  • Previous experience operating a Grader (ticketed preferred)
  • General station & machinery maintenance experience
  • Ability to observe general property needs, i.e. fencing, livestock health
  • Good communication & organisational skills
  • Self-motivation & the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • An appreciation for remote rural living.
Camping out is a requirement of the position.
