Australia’s richest woman is stepping into heritage workwear after it emerged Gina Rinehart had bought out a direct competitor of Andrew Forrest’s RM Williams business.

Mrs Rinehart has acquired the century-old brand Rossi Boots via her pastoral business S. Kidman & Co. The new deal is her second foray into fashion and signals a broadening portfolio for the magnate outside of her iron ore and agriculture fortune. Founded in Adelaide in 1910 by Arthur Rossiter, the fourth-generation manufacturer made a name for itself supplying its hardy footwear for the likes of farmers and ranch hands to soldiers.

Its popular designs include the Ripple Sole Desert Boot launched more than 70 years ago and the Endura Sole, launched in the 90s.
